Our Programs

Our goal at Volunteers of America is to provide individuals with the tools to improve their quality of life. We do this by providing housing, early childhood development, mental heath and substance abuse treatment. We understand that asking for assistance can be a hard thing to do, but know that our dedicated staff is here to take every step with you on your journey to a better future, the journey to hope and a new beginning.

Last year, Volunteers of America of Southwest California assisted more than 24,000 individuals and families within our service territory. Our programs focus on four primary areas:

The service territory for Volunteers of America of Southwest California encompasses San Diego, Imperial, Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino counties. In 2009, we will expand our service territory to include the state of Arizona.

Life Without Black People

This is a story of a little boy named Theo who woke up one morning and asked his mother, “Mom, what if there were no Black people in the world?”

Well, his mother thought about that for a moment, and then said “Son, follow me around today and let’s just see what it would be like if there were no Black people in the world.”
